A couple more funny things to end the week

I've been feeling very merry this week and the universe has responded in kind. Despite catching a cold for the first time in over a year, I've laughed A LOT this week.
Here's a couple more reasons why:

In Saddam Hussein's Home Town of Tikrit this monument has been unveiled to honor the Journalist Muntadhir al-Zaidi who hurled a shoe at George Bush after shouting "Farewell you dog".
From CNN
Assisted by children at the home, sculptor Laith al-Amiri erected a brown replica of one of the shoes hurled at Bush and Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki. Al-Zaidi was jailed for his actions, and a trial is pending. But his angry gesture touched a defiant nerve throughout the Arab and Muslim world. He is regarded by many people as a hero. Demonstrators in December took to the streets in the Arab world and called for his release.

Second thing that brought a smile to my face
(and a few abstract thoughts to my mind):
Die zehnte Dimension

I actually laughed out loud home alone whilst watching this! Although "highly intellectual", it does seem a bit tongue in cheek, if you want to read some serious theory of this nature - a friend of mine recommended reading a book called "The Elegant Universe".

....and last but certainly not least (I could go on, there's been plenty more)

The REAL Peter Griffin!!!!!

What a fun week it's been. :)

Modern R&B Music, just GIBBERISH!!!!

Ok not all of it, but the last track on Ryan Leslie's new album certainly is and you know what....I LOVE IT!

Track 12 of his new album titled "Gibberish" is Ryan Leslie laying down a melody for a track whilst slightly (I'm sure affectionately) making fun of some of his contemporaries....
I won't need to mention any names.
Check it out!

Here's a making of video:

Isn't it great when musicians have fun with their art?!
Nice one Ryan! by the way, Ive heard an album sampler - it sounds hot, go out and grab a copy when it's released (Pencilled in for February 10th) Just in time for valentine's day if you believe in all that jazz. :P

*Edit >>>WARNING<<<
Do not make the same mistake I did and listen to this on repeat: It WILL get stuck in your head and you WILL be singing absolute nonsense to yourself ALL day like I have!

Enjoy! :)

Inspiration if you need it,
or love it like I do......

I haven't been in particularly great spirits over the last couple of days, I've been hearing a lot of news and very little of it has been good. That being said, I'm use to the cycle of ups and downs and I'm accepting my current state of mind aware that these low times only make the highs that much sweeter!

I know things will get better and in the magical way the universe operates - without me saying anything about my current state - a forum friend brought this to my attention:

Video on this link:
http://www.maniacworld.com/are-you-going-to-finish-strong.html

Nick Vujicic was born with no arms or legs, four years and 2 days before me.
He has since gone on to deliver motivational speeches and Christian Ministry to over 3 million people worldwide and countless others via the internet. If you have the time or the need, look up his story; it's amazing.

This is the kind of message I want to hear from religious and spiritual folk, not crazy ranting of hell, but passioned promises of hope!

Thank you Universe.x

THEE best job in the world...NO WAY!!!!

On a day when it was announced that 5000 people in London have lost their jobs, the Australian government have begun taking applications for what is being described globally as the best job in the world!

As part of a drive to protect a $12 billion a year tourism industry during the tough economic climate, the Tourism board for Australia's Queensland state are seeking one lucky applicant to live on Hamilton Island (part of the country's Whitsunday Islands on the Great barrier reef) rent-free in a multimillion-dollar three-bedroom beach home complete with pool and golf cart, for six months of the year. For the successful candidate as the "Island caretaker/promoter" they would be expected to stroll the beaches, watch whales, get a tan and tell the global community all about it via Photo, Video & Written blogs.

According to an Australian News paper - no formal qualifications are required - however, strong swimming ability and a love of scuba diving are essential requirements.

"They'll also have to talk to media from time to time about what they're doing so they can't be too shy and they'll have to love the sea, the sun, the outdoors," said acting Queensland state Premier Paul Lucas.

Look at the place!

ARE YOU KIDDING ME!?!

I would apply but according to reports over 850'000 clicks were made to the Tourist Board's website within the first 24 hours, so alas, It seems I will only be able to bat a green eye at this awesome opportunity.

To answer sceptics questioning the wisdom of letting an unknown person be spokesperson for the state, Australian Tourism Minister Desley Boyle said:

"I think the biggest risk will be that the successful candidate won't want to go home at the end of the six months. This is a legitimate job which is open to anyone and everyone."

Applications are open until February 22. Eleven shortlisted candidates will be flown to Hamilton Island in early May for the final selection process and the six month contract will commence on July 1.

If you're undeterred by the sheer number of applicants for the world's greatest job, you can apply at Islandreefjob.com

I wish you good luck and if you're successful feel free to link my blog to yours!

Canon 5D Mark II kills camera crew

When Canon announced the successor to the legendary 5D back in September 2008 I was excited, even more so when I heard that the camera would feature an HD Video Recording mode. Oh, the possibilities!

Ofcourse back then, I only had Technical specs and rumour to drool over, but since the camera's release in November '08, Image makers world wide have snapped up tens of thousands of 5D Mark II bodies and have since created some wonderful things with this little baby.

Last week a forum friend brought this to my attention;
A music video filmed entirely on the 5D Mark II!!!!

The video was directed by UK Director Paul Ward, for the Band "Forte" the song is decent (if you appreciate dance music) but I'm very impressed by the quality of the video and apparently it weasnt even filmed on the highest quality setting
*more drool*

Here are the results:

If you like the track, you can download it at: forte.bandcamp.mu/

I'm inspired, Photography is evolving at such a fast rate, who knows what will be possible by the end of 2009!?!

And we're back!
(With something fun and a little silly)

First off, I would like to wish you good vibes for the year ahead.

So far '09 has got off to a smooth start for me, there's already been plenty of laughs and sillyness. For example: Yesterday morning when I signed onto the net, a friend brought something odd to my attention - THE BANANA GUARD!!!!!

I'm sadly not a banana fan, but it's hard to ignore pure design genuis where applicable.

As quoted from www.bananaguard.com
Are you fed up with bringing bananas to work or school only to find them bruised and squashed? Our unique, patented device allows for the safe transport and storage of individual bananas letting you enjoy perfect bananas anytime, anywhere.

Although the practical use is wasted on me, the idea is a classic example of how function, form and fun can go together in perfect harmony.

*News just in!

There's an upgrade to the banana guard floating around online retail outlets and it looks like this:

Love it!
